The Minds and Machines Program of the H&SS Department of Cognitive Science has been a leader in providing undergraduate education in artificial intelligence and cognitive modeling. Founded in 2002, research in the department is already funded by outside sponsors at a level over $4 million, and the highly selective PhD program in Cognitive Science is now firmly established. The number of current faculty -- holding degrees in cognitive psychology, philosophy of mind, computer science, mathematics -- stands at 22, with our newest hires, Mark Changizi and Jim Hendler, to arrive January 2007.
